Moments from the Day 1/27

Yesterday, the first thing I saw when I left my building on the way to work was a small, dead rat lying by the curb. It looked uninjured, but it was lying on its back in the street, totally intact. I think a stray cat must have killed it, then spooked when I came out the door and left it lying there. I wonder if it ate it later or if a car came along and smashed it.

When I got to work, my fresh cup of coffee spilled all over my new dress and my desk, destroying my papers and the carpet.

In the evening I reread two poems I'd written recently. I need to do more of this, I thought. I'm going to try to record these things in this journal for a while. They'll stack up.
